One Piece Chapter 1043 Title: Lets Die Together
The chapter starts where it left off in the previous chapter with Kaido hitting Luffy and Kaido being completely heartbroken.
– We see the Third CP0 member who probably realizes what has happened on the rooftop.
– Steam comes out of Luffy’s mouth and we see Momo who comes to the realisation that he cannot hear Luffy’s “voice” anymore. Luffy is completely down and silent and “Hundred Beast” Kaido is declared the winner of the Rooftop Battle.
– Kaido immediately tells CP0 that he probably understands the consequences of interrupting their fight to which CP0 member doesn’t say anything and just tips his hat forward.
– Kaido goes for a massive attack on the CP0 member and the rooftop crumbles even more and it is assumed that the CP0 member has fallen. The 3rd CP0 member probably understands that his comrade has been taken out.
– Move to the live floor where Kawamatsu asks everyone to get out of the castle immediately and says not to die a dishonourable death by fire.
– Suddenly, a fire beam (Boro Breath attack) comes down on the live floor and in a beautiful double spread, Kaido appears in front of the remaining Alliance and Beast Pirate members.
– Kaido announces that Luffy is dead and wants Momo to surrender. Kaido continues by saying that he will take on anyone who still wants to challenge him.
– Law confirms that Luffy’s “voice” has disappeared. We see reactions from Chopper and Tama who are devastated to hear that. Nami refuses to believe what Kaido said and calls him a liar and a snake. Kaido aims a Boro Breath at her, but Marco interferes and saves her.
– Kaido announces that Onigashima will drop on the Flower capital and everyone will work as a slave for him, be it women or children. He demands Momo’s presence and won’t stop attacking till Momo surrenders.
– The Beast pirates who are now happy try to attack Kid and Law. Kid and Heart pirates protect them against the Beast members. Meanwhile, Nekomamushi and Carrot are running to fight again.
– Momo after hearing that Luffy has been taken out is mentally defeated and doesn’t want to fight anymore. Yamato tells Momo that they need to fight as that is the way of the samurai.
– Momo, who doesn’t want to increase any more casualties, wants to surrender. Yamato responds she won’t forgive Momo if he did that and there is no honor is becoming slaves again just to save your life.
– Yamato continues to encourage Momo and tells him how this battle has been on the back of 20 years of struggle for all of Wano. She says she would rather die than give up and asks Momo to die together if thats what he wants. Upon hearing those words, Momo and Yamato now look fierce and are ready to fight.
– We now see a brief shot of Onigashima floating in the air and Luffy who cant even move an inch but there is a sound which probably indicates a heartbeat.
– Zunesha now informs Momo that it can hear “it” and gets nostalgic. Zunesha continues to say that it can hear the “Drums of Liberation” which have not been heard for over 800 years now and says “He is definitely here”.
– A confused Momo asks who is here to which Zunesha responds “Joyboy has returned”.
– In an amazing final panel, we see Luffy who is smiling with his hair possibly melting and steam probably coming out of his mouth.
– The comment of the editor is “The man smiles quitely”.
